A Naples construction company is preparing to begin work this summer on two affordable housing developments, one in Naples and another in Fort Myers, that will bring a total of more than 300 affordable housing units to the area. DeAngelis Diamond estimates the combined construction value is $75 million.
McDowell Housing, based in Miami, is the parent company developing both projects.
In South Naples, Ekos Creekside will be a seven-story residential building accompanied by a clubhouse. It will provide 160 affordable housing apartments, southeast of the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Henderson Creek Drive.
In Fort Myers, Ekos on Evans will encompass five garden-style residential buildings and a clubhouse. It will bring 144 apartments to 3501 Evans Ave.
The word oikos in Greek, which is transliterated "ekos," means home.
Both projects are being developed using the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, according to a statement from DeAngelis Diamond, which says Ekos on Evans is also getting support through Lee County’s Community Development Block Grant/Disaster Recovery funding for areas impacted by Hurricane Ian.

Construction will last more than a year. Ekos on Evans is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2026, while Ekos Creekside is projected to turn over during the first quarter of 2027, according to DeAngelis Diamond.
