As McDowell Properties Founder, Chairman and CEO, he leads the senior team in all aspects of the firm’s business activities and strategic planning efforts and is Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. McDowell also oversees the operations of McDowell Housing Partners, the affordable housing affiliate of McDowell Properties, as its Managing Partner.
McDowell Properties was formed in 2004 and has an equity investment strategy that focuses on the opportunistic acquisition of multifamily rental properties. McDowell Properties is also an active buyer of subordinate CMBS debt. McDowell Housing Partners acquires and builds LIHTC financed affordable rental housing communities with a current focus on Florida and Texas.
Mr. McDowell was previously a founder and partner of The Fox Group and its successor company Metric Realty, a joint venture with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Fox/Metric invested in and managed over $4 billion in real estate assets, comprising in excess of 400 individual properties located in more than 30 states.
Mr. McDowell is active in numerous industry organizations. He has served on the Advisory Committee for Troubled Projects of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the Vice Chairman of the National Multi Housing Council. He is on the Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Berkeley, a member of the Urban Land Institute, a Board member of the National Multi Housing Council and a member of Stanford Alumni Real Estate Council. He is also a Trustee and Executive Committee member of the Perez art Museum Miami (PAMM).
Mr. McDowell has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA in Real Estate from the Graduate School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
As President of McDowell Properties, Kenneth Lee is responsible for the firm’s overall investment strategy overseeing all real estate acquisition, disposition, financing, and capital formation activities. During his tenure, he has acquired over $3.6 billion of real estate assets and made investments in subordinate, commercial mortgage-backed securities representing over $23 billion in multifamily loans. In 2019, Mr. Lee co-founded McDowell Housing Partners, which focuses on developing and acquiring affordable housing properties, where he serves as Co-CEO.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2004, Mr. Lee worked at Chase Securities, Inc. and its affiliates where he evaluated high-yield debt investments, completed over $2 billion in merger advisory and debt/equity placement transactions and worked in the finance department of a portfolio company.
Mr. Lee is currently a board member of the National Multi Housing Council and a member of the Advisory Board at the Fisher Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Lee holds a BA from Boston University and an MBA in Real Estate from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
As Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer for McDowell Properties, Manpreet Dhadda is responsible for overseeing the firm’s accounting and financial reporting functions. His principal financial duties include managing quarterly reporting to Fund investors, maintaining cash flow analysis, and assisting joint venture partners with all financial related matters. Prior to his role as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Dhadda served as Vice President of Finance and initially, as Controller for McDowell Properties.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2015, Mr. Dhadda spent 6 years in public accounting, most recently as a Tax Manager with KPMG LLP. At KPMG LLP, he focused on tax structuring, compliance, research, and security analysis for alternative investment partnerships which included hedge funds, private equities, and fund of funds.
Mr. Dhadda is a California licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Mr. Dhadda holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University of Sacramento and a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University.
As Managing Director of Acquisitions for McDowell Properties, Jake Gentling is responsible for acquisitions, joint venture equity partnerships, recapitalizations, financing, dispositions, and fund valuations. During his tenure at McDowell Properties, Mr. Gentling has acquired over $3 billion of real estate and debt.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2007, he was an Acquisitions Analyst for Archstone-Smith where he worked on over $400 million in real estate transactions within their San Francisco office. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Gentling was with Carmel Partners, a private equity real estate firm and worked as a Project Manager in their acquisitions and development group.
Mr. Gentling is an active member of the Belden Club, Urban Land Institute, and the Fisher Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Gentling holds a BA in finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
As Senior Vice President of Asset Management& Construction Services for McDowell Properties, Colin Santos is responsible for supervising Asset Management and Construction Management teams, creating value-add strategies for the repositioning of multifamily assets, overseeing third party fee managers, evaluating investment performance, and analysis for acquisitions on affordable and market rate real estate investments.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2012, Mr. Santos was a Regional Manager with Lincoln Property Company specializing in fee managed new construction. He was responsible for the supervision of leasing 6,000 units in markets throughout the DFW metroplex. He also participated in the refinance and disposition of over 4,000 units during his tenure at Lincoln Property Company.
Mr. Santos is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. He holds a BA in History from Texas State University and has attained both the Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designations.
As Chief Operating Officer of McDowell Housing Partner’s (MHP), Christopher Shear is responsible for leading the overall company day-to-day operations; implementing MHP’s growth, development, and investment strategies; forming and maintaining key relationships with debt and tax credit equity partners, local governments, synergistic non-profits, and community-based organizations.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Shear served in leadership roles with prominent for-profit and non-profit affordable housing development firms. Over the course of his career, Mr. Shear has been responsible for rehabbing and developing over 4,000 affordable/workforce housing units utilizing an array of complex financial and partnership structures including LIHTCs, tax-exempt bonds, tax increment financing, CDBG and HOME and federal programs, amongst various state and local funding sources and incentives.
Mr. Shear serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Coalition of Affordable Housing Providers (CAHP) and the Urban Land Institute’s Florida Affordable & Workforce Housing Council.
Mr. Shear holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a concentration in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
As Acquisitions Associate for McDowell Properties, Quinn Adkins is responsible for performing market research and analysis of potential real estate investments across the US. Mr. Adkins is also responsible for assisting with the coordination of the due diligence and closing processes with all parties involved.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2021, Mr. Adkins spent two years as a commercial real estate credit analyst at U.S. Bank. At U.S. Bank, he focused on property- and sponsor-level underwriting for multifamily, industrial, office, and retail facilities.
Mr. Adkins holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Vermont with a concentration in Finance and a Minor in Economics.
As a Development Associate at McDowell Housing Partners, Andrew Baker is responsible for participating in all aspects of development including site selection, feasibility analysis, financing applications, due diligence, design, vendor procurement, entitlements and permits, and closing coordination.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Baker worked in multifamily development and acquisitions.
Mr. Baker holds a Master of Arts in Economics and a minor in Statistics from the University of Florida.
As Senior Controller for McDowell Properties, Harp Bedwal is responsible for managing the firm’s accounting, financial reporting, and tax functions. Some of his chief responsibilities include overseeing property finance assessments, assisting with annual budgets, facilitating joint venture partner reporting, as well as coordinating and reviewing income tax returns and audits.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2021, Mr. Bedwal spent five years in public accounting, most recently as a manager in the Financial Services tax practice at BDO USA. At BDO, he focused on tax compliance, planning and research for alternative investment funds specializing in venture capital, private equity, and fund-of-fund clients.
Mr. Bedwal holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Professional Accountancy from the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
As Vice President of Asset Management for McDowell Properties, Bunny Blake is responsible for monitoring the operations of third-party management companies in the Southeast. Ms. Blake supervises the implementation of value-add strategies and capital projects.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2007, Ms. Blake was a Regional Director of 3,000 units with PRG Real Estate. Ms. Blake was responsible for analyzing financial performance, preparing cash flow analysis for owners, and executing business plans on new acquisitions.
Ms. Blake holds a Bachelor of Arts from East Carolina University and is a North Carolina Real Estate Broker. Ms. Blake has obtained her Certified Apartment Manager (CAM), Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS), Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designations.
As Director of Acquisitions for McDowell Housing Partners, Kenny Bowron Jr. plays a pivotal role at the front end of the development process. His focus includes analyzing QAP’s and competitive funding solicitations, formulating site selection strategies, performing due diligence for site feasibility, LOI and purchase contract negotiations, cultivating community partnerships, and overseeing the funding application production process.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Bowron Jr. led acquisitions and predevelopment for Beneficial Communities, a Florida tax credit developer, for over a decade. Mr. Bowron Jr. has sourced multiple developments comprising over 2,000 units from Florida to Washington State with Beneficial Communities.
Mr. Bowron Jr. holds a Bachelor of Science at Keiser University. He is a member of Florida Coalition of Affordable Housing Providers (CAHP) and a former board member of Suncoast Community Capital.
As Vice President of Acquisitions for McDowell Properties, Brittany Burckhard is responsible for overseeing the company’s dispositions nationally. Mrs. Burckhard has over 12 years of experience in acquisitions and financing in multifamily. During her tenure at McDowell Properties, Mrs. Burckhard has completed over $4.17 billion in dispositions, over $1.29 billion in financing transactions, and $798.2 million in acquisitions. Mrs. Burckhard previously held the role of Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO of McDowell Properties and managed investor relations for the company’s investment funds.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2010, Mrs. Burckhard was the Executive Assistant to the President of Classic Kitchen Consulting. In 2003, Brittany joined a residential homeowner association as the Program Director. In this capacity, Mrs. Burckhard worked closely with Senior Management to increase program profits and was responsible for the facilities compliance with safety regulations.
Mrs. Burckhard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University.
As Corporate Counsel for McDowell Housing Partners, Lloyd Burman manages the legal functions of McDowell Housing Partners, LLC’s activities. As corporate counsel, Lloyd plays a pivotal role in various activities of the company, including those relating to corporate governance, real estate development, financing transactions, acquisitions/dispositions, litigation, and insurance and risk management, while simultaneously contributing to the company’s development and its achievement of present and future strategic goals.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Burman worked with the Affordable Housing & Tax Credits Team of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, where he provided full-service representation to for-profit and not-for-profit developers of workforce and affordable multi-family housing in various transactional disciplines.
Mr. Burman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with an emphasis in Law and Public Policy, from the University of Arizona. He also holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws in Taxation, both from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
As Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for McDowell Properties, Edie Canning is responsible for assisting with reporting, financial analysis, and contract administration. Her responsibilities include working directly with third party managers, monitoring property level reporting, serving as administrator for software sites, and additional administrative duties. Mrs. Canning also supports other asset management team members.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2022, Edie worked as an office manager for a commercial real estate office. Edie’s multifamily experience included working for a pension fund advisor for 16 years where she advanced from Analyst to Associate Director of Multifamily Asset Management, and 15 years with a national multifamily property management company.
Mrs. Canning majored in Fashion Design at the University of Texas at Austin.
As Project Design Manager for McDowell Properties, Brandy Cerbone manages all creative aspects of the design process from architectural renovation to final design installation for McDowell’s portfolio. She is responsible for articulating plans and communicating the overall design plan to all partners involved. Mrs. Cerbone collaborates with her team to create aesthetically pleasing spaces through architectural features, color, furnishings, and décor to create connection between the target market and the capital projects.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2017, Mrs. Cerbone worked for William Sonoma Inc., Pottery Barn. During her time there, she worked with residential and multi-family clients.
Mrs. Cerbone holds an Interior Design degree from Buffalo State College.
As Acquisitions Analyst at McDowell Properties, Patrick Conta is responsible for performing market research and assisting in potential real estate acquisitions.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties, Mr. Conta worked summer finance internships with Milwaukee Capital and Essity. He spent two summers with Milwaukee Capital analyzing publicly traded banks and thrifts before working with Essity’s Global Business Services team to complete various financial-related tasks.
Mr. Conta holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate.
As Accounts Payable Specialist at McDowell Housing Partners, Kenneth Cooper is responsible for all Accounts Payable Invoicing and Payment processing.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Cooper had 20 years experience working in the Real Estate Management Industry as AP Manager & Property Accountant.
Mr. Cooper holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University.
As Sr. Executive Assistant & People Operations Manager to the Chairman & CEO, Jennifer Diaz is responsible for all office procedures and uses her organizational skills to ensure smooth operations in a busy work environment. She serves as the primary contact for external offices and provides technical and logistical support on special projects. Jennifer participates as part of a team in planning, coordinating, and executing events such as company retreats, company dinners, and conferences.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties, Jennifer worked as an Executive Assistant in different industries and has brought over 10 years of experience in the administrative field. Jennifer has an international background and has worked as an Executive Assistant for Vodafone UK, Mars Inc LATAM, and Philip Morris Spain.
Ms. Diaz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Rey Juan Carlos I University in Madrid, Spain.
As Assistant Vice President of Acquisitions for McDowell Properties, Andy Evans takes charge of both Affordable and Market Rate initiatives across the southeast and west regions. is responsible for supporting both Affordable and Market Rate initiatives. His core responsibilities encompass identifying acquisition opportunities that exhibit growth potential and offer robust capital protection. Since his introduction to the company in 2020, Mr. Evans has played a pivotal role in supporting the newly established affordable fund, contributing to its substantial growth with the addition of hundreds of new units since its inception.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2021, Mr. Evans spent four years in acquisitions, notably serving as an Associate at Madison Realty Investors (MRI). During his tenure with Madison, he focused on acquisitions, asset management, and dispositions of properties in the Colorado and Florida markets. Prior to Madison Realty Investors, Mr. Evans garnered valuable experience working for a global IT service company, where he specialized in corporate finance, with an emphasis on international restructuring and real estate portfolio management.
Mr. Evans holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a concentration in real estate from the James A. Graaskamp Center.
As Accounting Technician for McDowell Properties, Louellie Ferrer provides support to Human Resources, Finance and Accounting teams. Her primary responsibilities include accounts payable and receivable at the corporate level. Mrs. Ferrer also oversees entity management; ensuring that entities at all levels are in compliance with each State's tax filing requirements.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2007, Mrs. Ferrer worked as an Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist for Pacific, Cartage and Warehousing Inc., a third-party logistics company. Mrs. Ferrer also served as an Accounting Generalist at Adobe Creek Golf Club and Housing Inc., a Japanese corporation known for their Senior Retirement housing projects and well-designed golf courses, where she reported directly to the Vice President and CFO of the company.
Mrs. Ferrer majored in Business Accounting and Management at St. Paul's College in Quezon City, Philippines.
As receptionist at McDowell Housing Partners, Catherine Fiallo is responsible for creating a positive first impression for everyone who walks through the door, handling communication and providing essential administrative support with warmth and professionalism. She ensures seamless operations and aim to leave a lasting, welcoming impact on clients and colleagues alike.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Fiallo focused on her academic pursuits. This is her first professional role, as she is now gaining valuable hands-on experience while pursuing a degree in Psychology.
Ms. Fiallo is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology, with plans to transfer to a larger university in two years to complete her studies
As Senior Accountant at McDowell Housing Partners, Maria Giselle de La Pena is responsible for preparing assigned projects construction and development draws and submit to the lenders, investors, and servicing agent. She monitors routine accounts payable voucher packages and invoices to make sure that all approved invoices are paid timely.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. de La Pena was a property accountant for a property management company and her responsibilities were to maintain cash balances in accordance with client requirements, set-up bank accounts, accounting systems, and financial reports for new properties and customers. She also assisted in month-end process including financial statements and cash flow statements.
Ms. de La Pena) holds a Bachelor in Finance from Florida International University.
As Executive Vice President of Development for McDowell Housing Partners, Brian Ivy is responsible for leading the company’s development team through every stage of the development life cycle, from funding award to property stabilization. His role includes implementing systems and processes to enhance company performance and building key relationships with financing partners and government agencies.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners in 2024, Mr. Ivy was the Senior Vice President of Finance at Conifer Realty, LLC, a national multifamily developer and property manager focused on affordable, workforce, and market-rate housing. There, he led a team responsible for structuring, negotiating, and closing all project-level debt and equity for affordable housing development efforts. Additionally, Mr. Ivy led the Strategic Asset Management group, managing Year 15 refinancing, restructuring transactions, limited partner buyouts, and property acquisitions and dispositions. Before Conifer, he was a Partner in the Banking and Finance practice at Phillips Lytle LLP, representing financial institutions on construction and permanent debt for affordable housing projects.
Mr. Ivy holds a B.A. from Yale University, an MSc from The London School of Economics and Political Science, and a J.D. from William and Mary School of Law.
As Assistant Vice President of Finance for McDowell Properties, Jon-Paul Karam is responsible for tracking the performance of all assets managed by McDowell Properties through the life of the investment.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2017, Mr. Karam worked for New Island Capital Management, a social impact investment advisory firm, where he managed the valuation and investment pipeline for assets under management. Prior to New Island, Mr. Karam worked on the finance team at Hercules Capital, a venture debt investment company, where he worked on valuation and reporting of all warrant and equity positions.
Mr. Karam holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.
As Office Manager and Client Relations for McDowell Properties, Min Min Khine is responsible for investors relations, assisting with fund-related correspondence, managing all offices’ needs for the San Francisco Office and collaborating across teams on Quarterly Reports for investors.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2022, Ms. Khine was a Banker at Wells Fargo and First Tech Federal Credit Union for five years combined, and a Billing Analyst at WideOrbit for three years. Ms. Khine also managed her own residential properties since 2014.
Ms. Khine holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting from San Francisco State University.
As Senior Construction Manager at McDowell Housing Partners, Maria Maldonado is responsible for managing construction projects throughout Florida. Responsibilities include support of preconstruction efforts for project pursuits, on-site team management, monthly cost reporting/forecasting, closeout, and coordination with design team and GC in order to ensure milestones are met.
Prior to joining McDowell properties, Ms. Maldonado served in management roles with national General Contractors on residential, commercial, multi-family, and affordable housing markets on projects with a combined construction total of more than $350M.
Ms. Maldonado holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of Florida.
As Director of Asset Design for McDowell Properties, Mrs. McDowell consults on all the creative aspects of asset capital projects including exterior and interior paint color selection and interior clubhouse renovations.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2005, Mrs. McDowell worked previously as the Assistant Director of Dyansen and Franklin Bowles Galleries in San Francisco from 1989 to 2004. Her 15-year experience in the world of fine art and design led to a more in-depth study of how color and design can affect the desirability and value of properties. She has also studied Feng Shui extensively and considers all elements including architecture, landscaping, location, demographics, and current color trends when choosing colors for properties.
Mrs. McDowell is a Trustee of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Utah and has studied at the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design. She is also a Certificate Feng Shui Practitioner.
As Vice President & Director of Capital Projects for McDowell Properties, Andrew Meador is responsible for coordinating project management and design teams during the due diligence, physical inspections, and improvements of prospective assets. Mr. Meador also assists asset managers in monitoring third-party management companies to reduce expenses and maintain each asset’s value.
Before joining McDowell Properties in 2008, Mr. Meador has held positions as Service Manager, Construction Coordinator, Maintenance Director, Company Trainer, and Capital Projects Manager. Mr. Meador has over 35 years of construction and management related experience.
Mr. Meador holds a Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician designation through the National Apartment Association. He also serves as a faculty member for the National Apartment Association’s Education Institute. He is a former president of the Triangle Apartment Association and past board member of the North Carolina Apartment Association Board of Directors.
As Vice President of Finance, Natalee Min oversees the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. Ms. Min is responsible for managing the monthly and quarterly financial review of all property owners and tier entities of the company, as well as the timely financial reporting to institutional investors. Ms. Min coordinates and reviews audits, income tax returns, and financial analysis for the company’s investment and divestment opportunities. Ms. Min also manages annual budgeting, accounting compliance, and routine financial reporting tasks such as quarterly reporting to Fund investors, ad hoc reports to senior management, maintaining cash flow analysis and assisting joint venture partners with all financial related matters.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties, Ms. Min spent seven years in the real estate industry, in both public accounting and the private sector. She started her career in Tax at Ernst & Young – San Francisco office, and her most recent position prior to joining the company was serving as the Tax Manager at Digital Realty LP, headquartered in San Francisco. In her previous roles, she focused on tax planning, structuring, research and compliance for real estate investment companies, primarily real estate investment trusts (REITs).
Ms. Min graduated magna cum laude from California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting. She is a California licensed Certified Public Accountant (inactive status) and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
As Vice President of Capital Transactions for McDowell Housing Partners, Ana Padilla works closely with the development team through the entirety of the closing process, from the onset of investor interest through final title, surveys, closing due diligence, document review and management.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Padilla has spent the last 18 years working with Affordable projects in the areas of Construction and Development. Most recently, Ana worked at The NRP Group as Project Manager and The Cleveland Housing Network as Construction Project Manager. Ms. Padilla has closed over 6,000 units with an emphasis in LIHTC mixed financing developments. She has successfully closed 9%, 4%, PFC and Market Rate developments with several layers of finance such as HOME, CDBG, TCAP, PHA and PBV units. Additionally, she has worked as an Architect of multifamily and single-family developments as well as a Design Manager.
Ms. Padilla holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park as well as a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
As Development Manager at McDowell Housing Partners, Scarlett Perez is responsible for participating in all aspects of development including financing, budgeting, preliminary design concepts and preparing applications for development project funding.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Perez worked with some of the largest General Contractors in the state of Florida on various luxury residential, multifamily, and commercial projects with a combined construction total of more than $660 million.
Ms. Perez holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of Florida.
As Senior Executive Assistant to the COO at McDowell Housing Partners, Janet Peters is responsible for providing daily support to the COO including travel arrangements, calendar management, and various other administrative tasks. She assists in creation of marketing materials, contributing to our social media accounts along with coordinating execution, distribution and filing of contracts and documents. Janet also participates as part of a team in the planning and organizing of company and team events.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Peters worked as an Executive Assistant in various industries and has over 35 years of experience in the administrative field. Janet most recently worked as an Executive Assistant to the COO and DOO at Lendlease, an Executive Assistant/Financial Manager at SmithBucklin and Supervisor of Tax Administration for KGN.
Ms. Peters holds an Associate of Arts General Studies from Robert Morris College, Chicago, IL.
As Vice President of Finance at McDowell Housing Partners, Henry Phillips is responsible for underwriting all current and prospective projects in MHP’s development pipeline. He is also responsible for the financial structuring of each deal with MHP’s capital partners as well as leading the financial closing process.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Phillips worked for Juno, a design-build and multifamily development company based in San Francisco, California. At Juno, Mr. Phillips was responsible for leading all project-level capital raising, underwriting, and asset management functions. While at Juno, Mr. Phillips led these functions on projects in Austin, Denver, and Seattle. Before Juno, Mr. Phillips spent four years at the NRP Group, a national multifamily developer, general contractor, and property manager of market-rate, affordable, and workforce housing based in Cleveland, Ohio. At NRP, Mr. Phillips was a senior investment analyst on the capital markets team, responsible for underwriting, capitalizing, and closing the firm’s development pipeline. Mr. Phillips worked on over thirty financial closings, primarily, 4% and 9% LIHTC transactions, in states including Texas, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Michigan.
As Senior Capital Projects Manager for McDowell Properties, Travis Rann has managed $20 million in capital improvements across 29 properties during his tenure with McDowell. In addition to capital improvement projects, Mr. Rann has managed over $9 million in insurance claims across the entire McDowell portfolio including two ground-up rebuilds. Mr. Rann also held the position of Assistant Capital Project Manager.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2015, Mr. Rann was a multi-site Service Manager for Bell Partners Inc. His responsibilities consisted of overseeing staff while managing day-to-day maintenance operations and assisting with capital improvement projects. Previously, Mr. Rann served as a building Engineer for a church in Chattanooga, TN, overseeing the care and maintenance of a 250,000 sq. ft facility.
Mr. Rann holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carson Newman College and an Master of Arts from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Rann also attained a technical certification in HVAC/R and has his EPA Universal CFC Certification as well as a Drone Pilots license with the FAA.
As Vice President of Construction for McDowell Housing Partners, Jessie Reyes is responsible for leading and managing pre-construction and construction for the entirety of the company’s development pipeline. Mr. Reyes oversees construction estimating and scheduling, permitting, procurement, and builder contracts. He also manages teams on-site, reporting, and close-out. Mr. Reyes collaborates across departments to execute and ensure all project construction budget, schedule, and quality goals are met.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Reyes served in construction management and leadership roles with prominent national firms in the multifamily, commercial, healthcare, government, and educational markets on projects with a combined construction total of more than $750 million.
Mr. Reyes holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Florida International University and is a licensed General Contractor in the State of Florida.
As Controller for McDowell Housing Partners, Odalys Silva oversees all tax-related and accounting matters. She brings over two decades of experience in accounting, finance, regulatory compliance, development, and construction management in the residential and commercial real estate markets.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Silva was the Controller for one of the largest manufacturers of custom window systems in South Florida. While there, she assisted the executive team establish project management strategies that helped improve the overall performance of the executive, finance, engineering, and plant operations departments. She also worked as Chief Financial Officer for a small developer in South Florida, where she oversaw and helped build a total 2,000 Affordable Housing units. Ms. Silva has additionally held roles as Director of Asset Management and Financial Reporting Director and her thorough knowledge of construction management, development, and property management have enabled her to successfully implement global solutions that have helped improve company’s compliance reporting, operations, and performance analytics.
Ms. Silva holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Florida International University. She is also a former member of National Yardi Affordable User Group.
As Development Manager for McDowell Housing Partners (MHP), Sean Smith manages the financing aspects of MHP’s development pipeline via drafting as well as reviewing financial models. He establishes relationships with lending partners for sourcing debt and equity, as well as reviews LOI’s and LP agreements.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Smith was a Vice President and Production Manager with Churchill Stateside Group, an affordable housing lender and equity syndicator. While at Churchill, he aided in the production and underwriting of over $500 thousand in affordable housing debt throughout the US. Before Churchill, Mr. Smith spent five years working as a commercial real estate appraiser and market feasibility analyst; primarily focusing on the multifamily and hospitality asset classes. Mr. Smith is also veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for seven years including two foreign assignments to Afghanistan and South Korea.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of South Florida and holds a Certified General Appraisal license in Florida.
As VP of Design and Pre-Development for McDowell Housing Partners, Cheryl Steigerwald leads the design management of third-party consultants, driving the growth of the affordable housing portfolio and supporting MHP's expansion efforts. With a passion for innovation, Steigerwald brings years of best practices to MHP to consistently deliver well-positioned products designed to meet market demands, while leveraging software, resources and processes to complete design & construction timely, with clarity of scope, and efficiency of costs.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, at The NRP Group, she oversaw vertical design on over 4000 units, and a billion dollars in yearly development of both affordable and market rate multi-family housing. Steigerwald’s background includes a successful career as a practicing architect specializing in large scale commercial development for major US based REITs.
As Development Associate at McDowell Housing Partners, Eduardo Teran is responsible for participating in all aspects of development including site selection, feasibility analysis, financing applications, due diligence, design, vendor procurement, entitlements and permits, and closing coordination.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Mr. Teran first gained extensive experience in multifamily construction in the Mid-Atlantic, managing projects with a combined total value exceeding $200 million. He later led the oversight of all development projects for Arcland Property Company, a self-storage facilities developer, where he was involved from preconstruction through construction and turnover, ensuring successful project delivery at every stage.
Mr. Teran holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from The Catholic University of America.
As CFO at McDowell Housing Partners, Patty Tincher is responsible for overseeing the firm’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial operations.
Prior to joining McDowell Housing Partners, Ms. Tincher led accounting and finance at Carrfour Supportive Housing, a non-profit developer and manager of affordable housing with on-site supportive services. Before Carrfour, she was the Controller for Pinnacle Housing Group, specializing in affordable multifamily development.
Ms. Tincher is a Florida licensed Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Miami and a Master of Accounting from Florida International University.
As Asset Manager for McDowell Properties, Emily White supports both Asset Management and Acquisitions with reporting, financial analysis, property onboarding, and dispositions. Mrs. White is responsible for establishing reporting standards and works directly with third party property managers to help monitor operational and renovation strategies. Mrs. White also assists fellow Asset Managers with cost forecasts and budget preparation to facilitate execution and property due diligence.
Prior to joining McDowell Properties in 2012, Mrs. White worked for a pension fund advisor as a Multifamily Analyst. Mrs. White also spent five years working in property management where she served as an Assistant Manager.
Mrs. White holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications from Lubbock Christian University, where she graduated with honors.
