W. Patrick McDowell and Christopher Shear have led McDowell Housing Partners to the forefront of affordable housing development since its founding in 2019. Under their leadership, MHP has secured funding for 22 new affordable communities, totaling more than 3,100 units across Florida and Texas, and has become a respected player in the LIHTC sector. McDowell, as Chairman and CEO, brings more than five decades of industry experience, while Shear, as President, leverages his expertise in complex financing and operational strategy.

McDowell Housing Partners (MHP) has announced the financial closing and start of construction for Ekos Creekside, a 160-unit affordable housing development in Naples. The project is the first in Collier County to break ground under Florida’s Live Local Act and marks Miami-based McDowell Housing Partners’ 15th affordable housing project statewide and fourth in the Naples market.

NORTH PORT – McDowell Housing Partners announced Sept. 17 that it has closed on the financing needed to begin construction on Ekos at Arbor Park Phase II, a 66-unit affordable housing complex in North Port. Christopher Shear, president of the Miami-based company, told the Herald-Tribune that construction on the 4.4-acre site was scheduled to begin Sept. 22, even though it has not yet received the $1 million grant awarded by Sarasota County from Hurricane Ian-related Resilient SRQ funds.
